What Is Filling the Gap?

 

A grant program developed

to lessen the financial

burden for Altru Cancer

Center patients who need

to travel from northeastern

North Dakota and

northwestern Minnesota to receive treatment. The $50,000 grant was made available through Gap Inc.’s

first-ever Founders’ Award.

Who Is Eligible?

Altru Cancer Center patients who fit he financial criteria set by the grant.

A form of financial eligibility will need to be completed and returned to Altru Cancer Center for review and acceptance.

How Are Patients Enrolled?

Getting enrolled is easy. Talk to your Altru healthcare staff regarding eligibility.

How Long Can I Be Enrolled In The Program?

You can receive benefits as long as you are an Altru Cancer Center patient and fit within the financial guidelines.

Every purchase at Porpoura Coffee House helps low income Altru Cancer Center patients get the treatment they need.

The goal of the Filling the Gap program is to literally FILL THE quality-of-life GAP for eligible Altru Cancer Center patients.

These are areas not commonly covered by insurance and deeply affect the quality of life for patients and their families during treatment.

About the Art

One mountain represents the treatment cancer patients receive. The second mountain represents quality of life for cancer patients and their families during their journey. The valley between the mountains represents the gap between the two. The green figure represents the amazing Altru Cancer Center staff and volunteers. The navy blue figure represents Gap Inc., whose partnership helped make this program possible. Lavender is the universal color for cancer awareness, s0 appropriately the lavender figure represents cancer patients. Finally, the snowball on the mountain is representative of what we hope and pray this program will do. It will build and gain momentum, helping fill the gap between the mountains, bringing help to those who truly need it. We want to thank Gap Inc., and Altru Health System for helping us realize our wishes to improve patients’ quality of life in this very special way. We hope it touches your lives as well.
